How does BOTOX Cosmetic work?
Lines in different areas of the upper face largely share one of the same underlying causes: repeated muscle contraction.
BOTOX Cosmetic blocks nerve impluses to the facial muscles of the upper face which temporarily reduces the muscle activity for noticeable smoothing of these lines.
What to expect from the treatment?
An aesthetic specialist will perform a consultation to determine an optimal treatment plan.
The treatment is quick and minimally invasive. It takes approximately 10 minutes. No anesthesia is required; however ice or a topical numbing cream can be used to enhance comfort.
Results may be seen within 24-48 hours after treatment that can last up to 4 months.
Who is a candidate for BOTOX Cosmetic?
BOTOX Cosmetic is indicated for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet lines, and frown lines.
BOTOX Cosmetic is contraindicated if the patient has a known allergy to any botulinum toxin preparation or to any of the components in the formulation.
It is also contraindicated if the patient exhibits an infection in the proposed injection site. Ask the provider about the side effects of BOTOX Cosmetic.
